2019 Champion Hancy Headlines Initial Batch Of 32 2020 Entries

2019 5 Club champion Ben Hancy, is among 32 drivers who have already entered the championship for the 2020 season. BS Motorport driver Hancy, will lead the charge for the Somerset based team, as he looks to retain his crown.


After coming so close to championship glory in 2019. Ian Tomlinson will be looking to go that one step further in 2020. Jordan Johnson had an impressive first full year in motorsport and he is back in one of the Chief Racing cars, alongside his Dad, Adrian, who also returns for 2020.


Marcus Bailey makes a welcome return to the championship for 2020 and will be providing tyre fitting and balancing services for the paddock this year. Marcus is not the only driver who has signed up after racing in other MX5 championships in 2019. Richard Baxter joined us at Brands Hatch last season for a toe in the water experience and joins the championship for 2020. 2019 race winner Steve Foden also makes a welcome return to the championship. Tom Smith is another 2019 returnee for BS Motorsport. BS Motorsport principal and former double champion, Ben Short has also registered for the championship alongside his father Matt Short, who had a strong showing in the final weekend of the 2019 season at Oulton Park.


Amigo Motorsport's Dan Blake, was a regular top ten finisher in the second half of 2019, in his first season of MX-5 racing and he is back for a second season. Topcats Racing's Lloyd Huggins was somebody who Dan fought with in the early stages of the season, before being deployed in the Armed Forces and will be looking to carry on where he left off. Bobby Andrews is a driver who has a lot of experience in the championship and will be fighting within the top ten. Abbitt Motorsport are another team from 2019 who return to the championship. Dave Abbitt will be looking to have a better season in 2020, having missed a large portion of the season following an accident at the season opener at Castle Combe.


These are just 14 of the 32 drivers currently registered for 2020. The 2020 season sees 22 rounds over eight weekends, including three live stream races at Donington Park at the end of May.
