The provisional 2021 5 Club MX-5 Cup season calendar, will see the drivers race in 19 rounds over seven meetings, as the championship brings exciting, close racing across the country. The battle for the 2021 championship, sees rounds spanning from Croft in the north of the country, to Brands Hatch down south and five other venues in between. This season will also see the debut of the Avon ZV7 tyre as the sole tyre for the championship.
The provisional calendar sees the championship begin on Easter Monday on the 5th of April, with a return to Donington Park, where Ben Hancy took back-to-back championships at the end of last season. This season sees the GP circuit be utilised, as the cars will use the Melbourne hairpin and the rest of the GP loop, to start the season off with a double header.
Castle Combe in Wiltshire, has been a favourite on the 5 Club calendar and it returns for a third successive season in 2021. The fast, flowing, Wiltshire circuit will host a triple header, on the first May Bank Holiday on May 3rd. The Castle Combe circuit, has one of the toughest corners in British motorsport, with the infamous Quarry.
The third meeting of the season, sees Croft make a return to the championship. The championship had three races there in 2019 in mixed conditions and it will be a triple header again that faces the drivers on the 29th/30th May.
The fourth meeting of the season, will see 5 Club visit the picturesque Anglesey Circuit, in Wales, on the 19th/20th June on the Coastal layout. The triple header meeting, sees the championship hit the mid season point and we will have a clearer picture of who could be challenging for the title.
The second half of the season continues on the 31st of July at Cadwell Park. The Lincolnshire circuit is likened to a mini Nurburgring, with it's tight circuit and undulations. The drivers will be driving into the unique Hall Bends and drop down the Gooseneck, for a double header.
The penultimate weekend of the season is at Brands Hatch, where three races will be held on the Indy circuit, over the weekend of the 11th/12th September. This will be the final opportunity for the drivers to put themselves in contention for the championship, before we go into the final weekend.
This year's finale will be on the Snetterton 300 circuit. Snetterton hosted 5 Club in 2020 on the shorter 200 circuit, for the season opener, where Ben Short, took a hat-trick of race wins. Snetterton 300, was the curtain closer for the 2018 season and is sure to provide thrills and spills, as we crown our 2021 champion.
